Best time to take Whey Protein when working out?

When would be the best time to take whey protein? Before or after a workout? What are the benefits of both? How much time before or after? I lift weights but also do a lot of cardio. Thanks!

My friends work out and use Whey Protein. Usually they take half before and half after but you should look on the instructions.

    As a rule of thumb always consume a pre and post workout shake. Make sure you are consuming a high quality chemical free whey product minus the fillers and additives. Go for 30-35 grams per shake.
