I already know how much protein to take, how to eat healthy diets, and what kind of proteins there are. I just want to know if I should start taking whey and building muscle at age 16.

im ur age that height but 130 lbs and i will probably take protein when i join the gym in two months but i dnt think u need extra protein at that weight if u want to get buffer just exercise and if u want to get thiner take protein and lessen ur eating habbits and exercise

PostHeaderIcon How often should i take whey protein shakes for efficient muscle growth?

Hey guys im 16 years old close to 17, and im wondering how often i should take whey protein shakes. I take around 5 a week at the moment.
My routine is:

Monday GYM – Upper body + Abs – Shake after the workout.Morning run before breakfast 2-6miles-i have half a shake before the run.

Tuesday – Morning run before breakfast 2-6miles-i have half a shake before the run.

Wednesday GYM- Lower body+ Abs – Shake after the workout

Thursday- Morning run before breakfast 2-6miles-i have half a shake before the run.

Friday GYM – Upper body + Abs – Shake after the workout. Morning run before breakfast 2-6miles-i have half a shake before the run.

Saturday i dont take it and i dont on sunday either, either sat or sun il have a rest day, on either one il do sports like football or tennis.
I also do football and tennis throughout the week.

I really want the muscles to start gaining strength and bigger, so shall i take it more often more times a week? or am i good how i am? ive been doing this routine for 2 weeks.

wow, really targeting your abs aren’t you…

straight after your workout you need to take your whey protein when your body needs it the most, you do need to eat a balanced diet too alongside the protein shakes. i have 2/3 shakes per day but each contains different things, i won’t confuse you for the time being, i think you should have another look at your workout plan and look up stronglifts 5×5 programme or anything by joe defranco

I just bought 1 lbs of 100% Optimum Whey

SHould I only take it on days I work out?

I take one scoop RIGHT after my workout and eat fruit after that…along with milk b4 i go to bed

and does it matter if i dilute whey in water too much?

One scoop right after your workout is great. You can take one with milk within 30 minutes of waking up to quickly get protein to your muscle after fasting all night. You should do that the morning after your workouts too. Before bed you should either use casein protein with milk or have some cottage cheese. Those are slow release proteins that will feed your muscle for several hours while you sleep.

One scoop is one scoop – doesn’t matter if it’s in 8 oz of water or 32. It’ll just take ya longer to drink it! Personally I use 20 oz of gatorade post-workout & 8 oz of 1% milk with breakfast.
